For years, I'd avoided wearing lip color because it would never stay on and/or would settle into the creases of my lips and look horrible. Then I discovered this wonder of a product. I've never used another lip primer, and I have no reason to try anything else because this works perfectly. It smooths out my lips and color easily glides on over it. I wouldn't dream of using lip color without prep + prime.

Can't Live Without It!

I am on my second Prep + Prime Lip! This is the best product I have EVER used under my lipstick. It has just the perfect amount of moisture to smooth my dry lips, yet it adheres my lipstick and helps to keep it in place. Probably my favorite MAC product!

I always wait until I've had a product for a long time before I write a review, and made no exception for this product. I was incredibly disappointed when I first tried it, even though I don't know what I was expecting. Having used it for several weeks with several different formulation of MAC lipsticks (including ProLongwear Lipstick, Pro Longwear Lustre Lipcolor; and Satins, Amplifieds, Mattes, and Frosts, I love it. I was having trouble with lighter shades like Snob and Angel showing every little line in my lips, but this really does provide a smooth base for all varieties of lip color. Sometimes I wipe out my lips with long-lasting foundation. I apply this both under and over the foundation, blend it, and it totally keeps my lips from feeling dry.

This lip primer beats them all. Its very conditioning and helps keep the color in place. It keeps the lipstick smooth and gives it a little shine. If you wear lipstick then you should buy this product if you havent already done so!

I read ALL the reviews and took both bad and good to heart. Im kinda stingy with my money, and I do a lot of reading/research before I spend. 15 bucks for a primer? Humm, but I put my faith in the reviews and decided to buy it...and I love it! I wear just lipgloss or a long-wear lipstick. It keeps both in place. Long wear lipstick can get "grainy" or rub off and the primer keeps it in place...and it feels really good even on natural lips..like velvet. I hope you do decide to buy it. It's worth it.

The BEST!!

I've been using this product for almost a year now and I LOVE it! I've always had issues with dry, cracked, and peely lips. That issue + lipstick = not cute! This product is the only thing that has helped! I was reading reviews and seems a few find this product to be a waste of money etc. The reviews kind of had me second guessing the product so I tried going without it for a day to see if it really made a difference. I substituted this product for a day with an average chap-stick, then applied my lipstick as usual. Boy, could I tell the difference! I seriously can not live without this product now. It provides a smooth base before my lipstick, enhances the color, and keeps my lips smooth and peel free for hours!

Often time I can have a heavy hand with lipstick and this product fixes that issue. Provides a smooth base for lipstick and helps to provide even coverage. Lips feel hydrated and soft. Great for dark colors - can make them lighter for day.

Disappointment

I ordered this product and it was very in-effective and did absolutely nothing. This product was as effective as a lip balm from the dollar store :(((

I liked this product alot it works really well to smooth out my lips before using a lipstick... unfortunatly I didn't get much use out of it because it broke off :( not sure why this happened because I never had it in any extreme weather but I might eventually get a new one... dissapointing considering the cost.

Primer?

This stuff does not do more than that of a regular dollar store lip balm. Sure it "primes" the lips leaving them soft, but you can get the same result with a 2 dollar product from the drugstore. Does absolutely nothing to keep my lipstick on all day, and does not seal in moisture which would be vital considering the dryness one must endure while wearing a M.A.C. lipstick. The product itself does not last long for one (considering the price), and the actual construction of the product is terrible. The actual stick of product broke in half while using it for only two weeks which was annoying because I had to be cautious I would not drop the product on the floor which would be throwing money in the trash. I gave it the benefit of the doubt though, thinking mine was just defective; only to be informed that the same exact thing happened to my mother’s prep+prime, so there is a problem with the construction of this product. Probably wouldn't purchase this again. It is not an exceptional product by any means and not worth the price tag.

This product is so worth the money. I originally chose to buy it because I recently bought the new Surf Baby lipstick in Naturally Eccentric, and was so disappointed that the light color didn't stay on my lips nicely and didn't look smooth. It highlighted any imperfections, When I got the primer it made a world of difference, the lipstick now goes on so smooth and evenly, and has the color I envisioned it would. Not to mention how smooth the primer makes my lips feel. I have very dry lips and lipsticks often dries them more, making the color look bad, but with the primer they stay so much better, I highly recommend this.

This lip primer is the most useful cosmetic item I have ever tried. My lipstick always came off by the afternoon, but since I have been using this product my lip liner and lipstick stays on perfectly all day long - no need to reapply! It stays on my lips where it belongs, no feathering. It keeps my lips smooth and moisturized even with drying lipstick. I strongly recommend this lip primer, it is an investment you will not regret. I'm stocking up I love it so much!

I have never been a lipstick type of person but it was because lipstick always feels like it's caked on and creases 2 minutes after I put it in. Recently picked up this primer and it has changed my view on wearing lipstick! Makes it feel like you're wearing a lip chap with the benefit of being able to wear a beautiful lipstick. The primer makes the lipstick look better, stay on longer and appear smooth and not creased. Definitely will keep buying this as I have done with the paint primer for the eyes for years now!

This is the BEST lip primer, EVER!!!!!! I put it on outline my lips first and go a little outside my lip border, then apply to my lips like a lipstick---it feels wonderful! Then I wait just a bit til it feels just a little tacky, apply whatever lip product. I've used Dazzle Glass gloss in Date Night all alone (at my daughter's wedding, no less) and it stayed on thru the entire picture session, wedding and reception w/o a single problem. My lips looked gr8!!!
[The colour did fade a bit after eating, but a slight touch up of Date Night was all I needed---no feathering, bleeding nothing but beautiful colour.] I highly recommend it!!!!!!

The Prep + Prime Lip keeps at least 90% of my lipstick and lip pencil on throught out the day so far, and the only time it will all come off is if I'm eating a large oily meal (not as large or gross as my habits sound LOL). And oil is a great makeup remover in general. If I wear lip pencil, lipstick and lipglass over this primer it will even keep the lipglass on for quite a while too because I can still feel the gloss on my lips throughout the day.
When you put on the Prep + Prime Lip and then you put on the lip pencil, the pencil really does glide nicely and smoothly on the lips with no dragging at all.
