waste of money
Date:March 18, 2012
I was soo excited about the shop mac collection I went to my local mac store's launch party event for it, stood in line forever just so I could pick up a few of these nail polishes. Among other things I picked up al fredo, salad dressed, and play day. Play day is by far my favorite out of three. I was extremely disappointed by these nail polishes overall tho. For 16 dollars a bottle, I expected a lot better color payoff, but you have to layer and layer it for the color to show up, which is annoying, but I could work with that. But what really got me about these polishes is the longevity. I would paint my nails, layering on the colors mind you and after a shower or washing my hands, they'd chip right off!! Totally unacceptable-even my drugstore 3.99 nail polish is better than this garbage. Don't waste your money ladies. Stick to the normal mac polishes or drugstore brands.

Amazing Color!

Salad Dresses was fast drying, easy to paint on your nails, and it only took me two coats to get a really good color! And I didn't put a base or top coat on and it was glossy and shiny!

My MacFare Al Fredo

This particular polish is very different from other MAC polishes I've used in the past.
To start off, this goes on very sheer and gives a pretty glassy look with one coat. I had to put on five coats to get a solid color. It reminds me of something that Chanel did about ten years ago with a sheer polish that only had a hint of color to it.
The Al Fredo was the choice for me, seeing as that the red seemed a little to common for me and the Salad Dressed is the exact same color as one polish from about four collections ago called Ocean Dip (the surf collection). The only difference is that Salad Dressed is very glassy and Ocean Dip is true to all MAC polishes.
And to be fair, no nail polish has ever been chip resistant with me. I swim in a very chlorinated pool and it never lasts for more than one swim.
And this polish was no exception.

Al Fredo is terrible

This color was such a waste of money. It is super sheer and there is no amount of coats that could achieve full coverage. The only way to achieve a decent color is to paint over white - which I find unacceptable for a $16 bottle! I am truly disappointed. My other MAC nail colors are fabulous.
