HATE THE CHANGE
Date:May 20, 2013

I loved using this stuff when it was the old formula. I even used to recommend it to my male patients who were averse to wearing sunscreen because it used to be so light. This new stuff is awful. I have oily skin and the old stuff worked great. This new stuff makes me break out all the time, and lets the oil shine through all day. PLEASE GO BACK TO THE OLD FORMULA! Until then, I'm going elsewhere, nor can I continue to recommend it to my patients.
I even went into the store and asked if there was something I was doing wrong. She mentioned that sometimes you need to shake the bottle a bit, so I tried that, but to no avail. HATE HATE HATE the new stuff.

PLEASE bring the OLD FORMULA back!!!

I am so unbelievably shocked that MAC has changed the formula to my one and only HG product ever! I have oily, acne-prone, and uneven skin. The old formula was my problem skin's perfect match. The old formula was light weight, non oily, did not leave a white cast on my skin, did not break my skin out, and most importantly... controlled my oil production. My skin was unbelievably less oily throughout the day. Unfortunately I must venture on to other brands due to the formula change. I would like to know why MAC would change such a phenomenal product!

Beyond Disappointment!!!

I almost never write a review for anything even when I do love the product. But this one I have to go out of my normal practice just to voice my disappointment! I have been using the old formula of this primer for years and it is the best thing and only thing that is working for me. And suddenly, a few months ago I bought another one to re-stock my supply and suddenly found that this new formula is nothing close to the old product that I used to love so much. In fact, this new formula makes me ever more so shiny and greasy, not to mention that it does not do any shine control for me.
I just DON'T. UNDERSTAND. WHYYYYYYYYY they have to change the formula and now, I will not buy this product or any MAC primer again. I just hope that they will bring the old formula back somehow!!! Please!!

new formula is horrible
Date:May 14, 2013
Tags: new product is best for nothing!
This WAS the absolutely best spf primer/moisturizer for oily skin. The new formula is horrible - it is just a mess and cannot even be used without totally ruining your makeup. I thought I had just gotten a bad tube and came to the site to order a new one but then read all the latest reviews and the new description. Then I realized that the formula was changed. Is there ANYWHERE to get a tube of the old formula or are any of the other products similar???? I need the spf 50, though for my outdoor activities!!!!!

Good Product - Bad Packaging
Date:May 13, 2013

I like this product - I find it goes on smoothly and lasts all day. I have sensitive skin and I don't think this primer has given me any issue, which is a relief. I love that it's two products in one - primer AND SPF, which is incredibly important to prevent premature aging and/or skin damage that can lead to skin cancer. However, I find the packaging to be a challenge. As you get closer to the end of the product, the packaging makes it hard to squeeze it out. It's really only easy when it's full and new and gets harder as you use it more frequently. The plastic is hard which is why its hard to squeeze it out. I wish this was a pump bottle or screw top.

Bring it back!!!

This used to be the most AMAZING primer out there for oily skin!! I can't even tell you how many primers and oil control lotions I have tried and NONE come close! The change was due to an issue with the FDA and the SPF on the bottle. Please bring back the old formula and just change the name. Has anyone found anything that comes close to this?? Anyone tried the Prep + Prime Refined zone??

PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD FORMULA!
Date:May 7, 2013
This was the best primer for my skin. I would not mind paying more if you bring it back. I was heart broken when you changed the formula to oily, greasy, runny mess. Please bring it back, it is evident that other MAC users feel the same. I would buy bulk if you have the old formula in stock. I cannot find anything even close to the old phenomenal formula. Bring the old FACE PROTECT back! You would make alot of us very happy.

Hate the Formula Change
Date:May 6, 2013
This used to be one of my favorite products from MAC. There was no other cosmetic line that could touch this product. Now with the new formula change, I don't see any difference from any other moisturizer with sunscreen. I won't be buying this again. I wish someone at the MAC counter told me of the forumula change before I spent my $30.

Date:April 24, 2013
I have oil skin. The old formula was my saver for long time because it will keep my face matte looking. The day I found this product was the best day of my life but now I'm very disappointed because someone made a decision to change the formula. Mac I had send an email and I haven't get a respond from you guys. I want my old formula please. There is nothing in this planet like the old face protect SPF 50

New formula is AWFUL
Date:April 8, 2013
I have terribly oily skin, and this was the first primer I ever used that actually worked - my makeup looked the same at the end of the day as it did at the beginning! I can't even put into words how disappointed I am in this new formula! After using this primer for 4 years, my face is back to being shiny, oily and dirty-looking.
I've tried the new formula, I've tried 2 other MAC primers and another brand and NOTHING works like the old formula. Has anyone found anything similar??? I'm dying here.

PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD!
Date:March 12, 2013
Tags: people with dry skin..not combination or oily
I had used the old prep&prime face protect visage SPF 50 for two whole years before MAC randomly switched the formula. I went to three different stores buying and returning because I did not understand why the consistency had changed and the product was no longer working. This is really upsetting because everyone knows that it is hard to find products that work. Once you find something that becomes a staple, you really just can't do without it. Please do not buy this new formula if you have been using the old one. It makes skin oily and you will experience breakouts. I really can't express just how disappointed I am with this formula change. I have spent so much money trying to find something that comes close to what I had..Mac, if you are reading this, PLEASE look at all of us suffering here in the review section and offer the old formula back.. even if you have to change the SPF on the label. I really don't care. I just want my old moisturizer back!

Warning: Formula Has Changed
Date:March 11, 2013
MAC, if you're not going to bring the old formula back, please take this product off the market because I can foresee a loss in revenue trying to sell this new formula.
Many loyal customers, including myself, have been using this primer since 2008 to perfectly prime, mattify, and control oil - and it was superb. The keyword there however is "was."
Recently, MAC has, heaven knows why, changed the formula for this once perfect product. The new product is less than mediocre at achieving what it's previous formulation was effortlessly capable of.
Honestly, if the old formula was brought back and costed twice as much - I would still purchase it. It was THAT good. The current formula however, please take mine and these current reviewers' advice and pass up this product until the formula has changed back to its previous state. Thank you.

OMG WHY????
Date:February 26, 2013
I have been using this primer for several years. This and the Studio Fix were my dynamic duo. The formula change is a DYNAMIC MESS! I am 37 years old and this product has worked for me since my 20's. Not anymore, not sine the change.
The formula change is a nightmare. I have oil breakthrough within a couple of hours (can't imagine what it will be like in the summer living in the Southeast). I never had this problem before. My face & the Studio Fix held up great in the summer months, but now, it can not even hold up in the winter. My skin no longer looks fresh. I think this is actually making me look older.
The consistency is to watery, causing the product to pool in the cap. I have to make sure I leave it positioned just right so I don't end up with a mess when I use it the next morning; otherwise, I am cramming my smallest finger into the cap to dig the primer out.
I'm on the hunt for a new primer and after so many years of a primer I could not be without.

HATE the new formula!

Please please bring back the old formula. It was my holy grail, I used it every day for years and don't know what I will do without it. The new formula makes my skin look shiny and gross and my pores huge. I took it back the the store the second day and thought it was defective. They told me MAC changed the formula. WHY???? MAC took a great product and absolutely ruined it.

Not for oily skin types
Date:February 13, 2013

Was attracted to this product because of the SPF 50. As a super pale person I am obsessed with sunblocks. I was told by a MAC make up artist that it was great for people with oily skin and will keep my make up in place longer.
It did no such thing.
Not only did my make up wear off as quickly as it normally does, but my face was incredibly oily.
Love the SPF 50. Hate the the greasy feel.
